We are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and SBC of Virginia. Here are our core beliefs as a church but to read a full description of our beliefs click here.
Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Ragland Memorial Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
God reveals Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (The Trinity). He is holy, and therefore, entirely perfect in all of His attributes. He is sovereign yet does not negate the free will of people. He is loving toward His creation but in His justice, cannot and will not overlook sin.
The Bible
The Bible is inspired by God and therefore inerrant, and is His revelation to the world. Entirely true and without any mixture of error, it was, is, and always will be the absolute and supreme authority. We are to study, preach, and teach the Bible with all boldness and without compromise.
The Human Race
Male and Female are both created in the image of God that they would worship, live for, and glorify God in life and for all of eternity. Because of their sin, the entire human race is in a fallen state, cut apart from God and unable to do anything in and by their own strength to reconcile themselves God.
Salvation
Jesus, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died upon the cross as a willing sacrifice, suffering the wrath of God for all of the sins, of all the world, of all time. He was buried in a tomb and on the third day, rose to life. His gracious offer of salvation extends to the entire world, and only through repentance and faith can one enter into relationship with the Lord Jesus.
The Church
The church is God’s redeemed people, who live in community to reflect the image of Christ through obedience to His commands as they seek to evangelize the world and disciple Christians.
Return
Jesus Christ is coming again to judge the world in righteousness. Those who have rejected Him will be separated forever in hell, while those who have received Him will be with Him forever in heaven.
